The 22nd season of the Mixed Bowls League is now in full swing with the first of six league matches having been played.
All clubs have there eye on winning the Camera House Cup.

Kimpton Bowls Club members, at there recent AGM have decided not to continue playing in the associations Mixed Bowls League & Knockout Competition. As one of its founding members many area bowlers will be sad to lose the Kimpton club.
The association would like to take this opportunity to thank Kimpton and it members for there support over the years and we wish them all the best for the future. The association will always consider Kimpton as a friend.

At the Stevenage & District Mixed Bowls Association EGM on Friday 28th September 2007 at the Holwell Bowls Club, it was agreed by all clubs to reinstate the overall league, so all matches against association clubs will be counted as league matches. This means that for the 2008 season and until further notice the Divsions 1 & 2 are now suspended.
It was also agreed that Rules 1 & 7 are amended to read - ( those rinks will have to forfeit 20% of the final score. A minimum of 4 shots to be deducted.)
We are now at the end of the 2007 season and all 72 matches have now been played over both Divisions and the final placings are as follows:
Division One Champions are Holwell Bowls Club with 54 points.
and the Runners-up are Datchworth Bowls Club with 46 points.
Letchworth GC Bowls Club are in third place.
Division Two Champions are St Ippolyts Bowls Club with a total of 59 points.
Runners-up are Riverain Bowls Club who have a total of 58 points.
Willian Bowls Club are in third place.

The Final was played on 8th August at Riverain BC. and was started at 6.00pm by League Secretary.
In the early stages over the first five ends, Holwell had a 6 shots lead 23-17. At 10 ends there lead had been cut to 3 shots 42-39. and over the next three ends St.Ippolyts took the lead 50 shots to 49 (on 13 end). The next two ends saw Holwell take back the lead on 15th end 56 Shots to St.Ippolyts 55 shots.
Over the last three ends it was Holwell who added the most shots adding 20 shots to there total with St.Ippolyts only able it add 6 shots to there total. Holwell had once more won the Knockout Competition 76 to 61 after all 18 ends had been played.
Congrulations to both teams for the away in which the final was played.

It was agreed by all of the association clubs for the Knockout Competition, that they ensure at all round winners, contact the Association Secretary and there next opponents as soon as possible after the match was played. This will ensure that the next rounds have the maxim amount of time for arrangements to be made.
It was decided that the recent Association EGM at the Overall League would not be contested over the 2007 Season.
Only the Division One & Two League Matches would be played as league matches.
However all of the clubs agreed that they would maintain and play all of the other fixtures as friendly matches against the clubs, who were not in there league.
This action was agreed to ensure that venue flows for all the clubs, were not reduced over the season.

2006 Round-up
Overall Mixed League 2006 - all hundred fifty six matches had results declared for 2006 and the honors went to:-
Champions Holwell Bowls Club with 131 points.
Runners-up Datchworth Bowls Club with 128 points.
Third Place Letchworth GC Club with 117 points
Forth Place Riverain Bowls Club with 108 points
Fifth Place Norton Bowls Club with 105 points
Division One 2006 - all thirty matches had results declared for 2006 and the honors went to:-
Champions Holwell Bowls Club with 51 points
Runners-up Letchworth GC Bowls Club with 41 points
Third Place Norton Bowls Club with 40 points.
Riverain BC & Kimpton BC are relegated to the second division for the 2007 season.
Division Two 2006 - all forty two matches had results declared for 2006 and the honors went to:-
Champions Aston Bowls Club with 58 Points
Runners-up Three Horseshoes Bowls Club with 47 points
Third Place Dixonian Bowls Club with 42 points.
Aston BC & Three Horseshoes BC are promoted to first division for the 2007 season
Knockout Final 2006
The final between Dixonian BC & Riverain BC was played on Friday 11th August at Stevenage Town Bowls Club.
The winners were Riverain BC 77 shots to 61 shots Dixonian BC. Riverain had two winning & two losing rinks.
Congratulations go to Riverain BC for the win and to Dixonian BC for coming second.
I would like to thank Stevenage Town for the use of the green for the final.

Congratulations Holwell who were the losing finalists in 2004 who now have the 2005 title.
Commiserations to this years losers Aston.
My thanks go to Paul Billson for arranging the use of the green at Norton B.C. for the final.
The conduction of the green was excellent and I thank the green keeper for all his hard work.
